Newsflash Diani Children’s Village
# 07/2009Jambo Sana from Diani Children's Village! We hope this letter finds you all in good health and spirits!
The children are progressing very well with the secondary students working very hard towards their exams in November this year.
The primary school candidates are also studying hard to get the best possible results in their exams, which will improve their chances of being selected to a good secondary school. We continue to provide the children with a good environment in which to study.
The ?four musketeers' Henry, Emmanuel, Fred and Joy are doing exceptionally well at their new school. They have picked up many to the basic skills in letter recognition and writing. They are the highlight of any visit to the Home.
The chicken and free range eggs projects are picking up again, many thanks to all of you who have buying our products even in difficult times. We plan to acquire another batch of layers to supplement those coming to the end of their laying cycle.
The furniture workshop is busy making beds, tables and safari chairs. Ishmael has been trying out some new designs which are a real success. With the scarcity of good wood to make furniture, we are looking at using sustainable woods such as those from the neem tree.
With the plentiful rain that the coast has been enjoying, the garden is full of produce, which helps us to trim the costs of running the Home.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to sending you more information on the progress of all our young adults and toddlers.
With warmest regards,
DCV Team
