Newsflash Diani Children’s Village
# 10/2008Many Greetings from Diani Children’s Village,
We are glad to inform you about the general well being of the children and progress made during the past few months. The secondary school students have just come for their midterm-break and have now started the final term of the year. The young ones are also happy to be in school and learn new things each day.
In our last newsletter we informed you about our plans to buy a new bus.
We are very happy to announce that the bus has arrived and would like to thank everyone who has assisted in making this possible. The bus is currently being used to drive children up and down to school. The plan is to run the vehicle as a “matatu” during the time it is free and the children are in school.
The idea is to cover monthly transport cost including fuel, maintenance and driver’s salary.
Some of the children have taken part in a dress-making course during the last few months.
They are now producing some very nice items, like kikoy bags and wrap arounds.
The items amongst other products like caps and t’shirts are for sale in our shop at the Home, please pass by and have a look.On behalf of the children, staff-and committee members, we would like to express our sincere thanks for your great assistance.
DCV Team.
