Diani Children’s Village

Location: Coast General Hospital
Date of Visit: 10th March 2026
Attendees: Madam Faith, Yvonne, and Anthony Pius

On 10th March 2026, our team visited Coast General Hospital to follow up on the medical progress of Baby David, who has been receiving treatment for hydrocephalus. Baby David has undergone two major neurosurgical procedures, including the implantation of a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt to regulate fluid pressure in his brain.

Current Condition & Observations
During the visit, the medical team confirmed that some symptoms, such as progressive head enlargement, gastritis complications, and “sunset eyes,” are expected during recovery. Caregivers have been trained to monitor Baby David’s health daily, including weight, temperature, milk intake, and head size, to ensure proper care.

At the time of the visit, Baby David weighed approximately 4 kilograms, which is appropriate for his stage of recovery. The hospital will issue the final medical bill after completing the official discharge summary.

Fundraising Update
We are preparing to participate in the upcoming GlobalGiving “Little by Little” campaign, running from 17th–20th March 2026. This campaign aims to raise funds to support Baby David’s ongoing medical care, covering hospital costs and essential treatment. Campaign links, posters, and promotional materials will be shared with supporters once finalized.

Conclusion
Baby David’s condition remains delicate, but the successful completion of his surgeries marks an important step in his treatment journey. The VP shunt is now helping to regulate fluid pressure in his brain, giving him a fighting chance at survival and healthy development.

We thank all our supporters for their continued commitment and support in ensuring the wellbeing of the children under our care.
